Resume writing is something that every educated person must know. A resume is a snapshot of what a person has achieved so far in terms of education and/or experiences.
There are certain factors to be kept in mind before jotting a resume which are described as follows:
Always first try to find the purpose of your job. The job resume should revolve around the object of the job hunt. For instance if you are interested in a management job then you should clearly mention that you are interested in the management post and not in any other allied job like sales or marketing. Be clear in your resume about what you are looking for. When ever writing a resume always think your self as a product to be sold. Your resume will serve as a brochure of your self describing your features and potential benefits to the HR department. Here is the catch, think about what exactly is being asked from the candidate, if he has to perform the documentation tasks then mention your office automation tools like MS words and MS excel or anything else that is specific to the required duties and of benefits.A catchy resume is always considered. Try to use software tools which enable flashy features to the resume like coloring, shading, designs and similar stuff. Try to mention your achievements that may interest the recruiter.Use bullets where ever possible. Bosses don't have much time to go through lengthy essays in fact lengthy resume are not considered if the job requirement does not needs it, they tend to put an undue influence on the recruiter.Try to emphasize on the facts that shows you as a person who works not the person who talks. Use words like prepared, developed, monitored, presented etc. These will proof your accomplishments in your field and will show that you are not a novice but an expert.Use symbols like $, %, # and try to write words as well numbers when presenting any amount or any specific numbers. Consider the example:"Have managed a team of 25 personnel""Have a track record of recovering 90% of every recovery task assigned to me"Resume are generally reviewed with one to two minutes so try not to make very lengthy at the same time try not underemphasize. Mention your strengths earlier where they can be read quickly rather than at the end.Occasionally, if the nature of the job permits, make a use of appendix to give more details about your experiences. But you must highlight them at the main page. This option is best utilized when you have an experience which is related to some technical field like accounts or engineering where it is important to mention your past experiences in more detail. There is no hard and fast rule to follow when it comes to CV writing but it always pays off to follow some guide lines from a professional point of view.
