What Do I Like To Do Business Concepts - I Like To Help People Succeed

If you talk to any consultant, mentor, or coach they will tell you that they started their small business to help other people succeed. They get a real kick out of helping others find their way in the world, and it's what drives them. They love to watch other folks find their passion, and eventually become successful in doing so. Some of them don't even care to get the credit as they just love the feeling of being involved in helping someone get to where they want to be. That is a noble cause, if they're doing it for the right reasons.

Of course, that's not the only way you can help someone succeed, you don't have to be a personal coach or mentor to do that. Nor do you need to be a small business consultant to help others small businesses get to where they need to go in order to reach their dreams, goals, and eventual profits. Sometimes people just need help doing little things, for instance; Resume Writing. Preparing a decent resume is tough, not everyone can do it correctly, and all too often people make mistakes, formatting errors, or over embellish their achievements, or underrate themselves on the other side of that flipped coin.

Helping someone prepare a perfect resume, and watching them work very hard hand delivering them, and mailing them out, faxing them, and posting them on LinkedIn makes you applaud the human spirit. Watching folks go the distance, and doing whatever it takes to succeed reminds you that adversity builds character. Once these individuals do find a job, you can know that you had a big helping hand in that, helping them get to where they needed to be. You helped them succeed. No wonder resume writers feel so good about what they're doing, they should.

Interestingly enough, the world of resumes has changed drastically with the advent of social networking, and the changes in the way human resource departments and personnel departments in major corporations work these days. Not everyone has maintained a level of savvy in this sector, and even solid executives need help with their resumes. With our unemployment currently in the fourth quarter of 2012 at over 8% you can rest assured that your services are needed.

So if you have a passion to help people, and watch them succeed, and if this makes your life a whole in your own pursuit of happiness then perhaps you will consider this a nice small business concept for you to start. Please think on it.

Do Good Looking People Get An Unfair Advantage In Career Advancement?

It just doesn't seem fair in our society which claims that everyone is equal under the law, that good looking people have a better advantage at work for higher pay and quicker advancement than all of us average looking people or in your case, just above average. Okay so, let's discuss all this and consider what's going on here, because maybe the discrimination charge is less than accurate.

There was an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal on September 1, 2012 titled; "Pretty, Good Performance," which told of a research study that the old belief that better looking people get advanced quicker in their careers was indeed statistically proven, however as a caveat the study also showed that statistically they were also better qualified and achieved higher performance in tests. Now then, how can this be, how can those who have better looks be better than those with average looks.

Well, I have a few thoughts on why this may be. First, if you are good looking everyone is watching you all the time, so if you don't perform they'll notice and you know they are looking because you can sense this and see it. So, you have to always be doing as best you can in the workplace. Since those who care about their looks work to maintain their image for respect and attention, they also work to perform for the same reasons - it's one of their personality traits.

Next, those who appear to be better looking, often appear this way as the human mind likes symmetry. Those who are the most symmetrical are often considered more beautiful when side by side pictures are observed in preference tests. Those who are more symmetrical, perhaps also have a better combination of gene sets, thus, perhaps are also of benefit of better intelligence levels in the brain because of it.

Lastly, those who are better looking are more socially conditioned and read people better, also giving them a boost in working with others, which helps performance at work, and getting others to work with them when they are working in groups or delegating.

Now then, if someone is not good looking, or they happen to look perhaps less than average they may not be expected to do well, and no one may watch them to see that they are, thus, no need to perform at optimum or bother to impress anyone. See that point? So, maybe this is a nurture issue, which perhaps started as a nature issue? Please consider all this and think on it and maybe you should include a picture with your resume?

Why Writing Online Articles to Recruit People to Your Organization or Business Makes Sense

In the US, our top corporations are busy looking and scanning our society and civilization for the very best possible people to recruit into the organization. It's also a very tough job, as they are being inundated with resumes and inquiries. One of the best ways I've found to recruit the top people is to create online articles discussing topics of interest that those types of folks you are looking for might consider intriguing. This way you can exactly target market the individuals that think like your company needs and therefore, will be a valuable new person for your team. Let's talk about this for second of the might.

Why should you write online articles to recruit people to your organization or business, you ask? It's simple, you see, if you prepare an article correctly you can speak directly to the individual, invite them to think on the topic you brought up, and allow them to offer insight. Perhaps they have ideas, innovations, or are very passionate about the topic. Indeed, these are the exact people you need to propel your organization into the future and ahead of the competition.

Whereas many companies have their recruiters, some of them handsomely paid going through LinkedIn resumes, and trying to recruit people from other companies and organizations for higher pay trying to lure them away, you can simply allow people to come to you, and the cost is minimal. If your article is prepared correctly, and submitted to one of the top online directories for articles you will ensure that those keywords are found by those who are searching that exact topic.

Anyone who is thoroughly interested in a subject will seek it out, even if they are unemployed, or perhaps not even looking for a job, they will do this because it is of interest to them, not because they are being paid. Anyone that is already searching around the Internet for something that they care very much about is someone who will be loyal to the cause, and passionate about that area of the human endeavor. It's worked for me, and I am blown away by just how good it has worked.

In fact, up until now I haven't shared this advice with anyone else, it's always been my little secret. Of course, now the secret is out, and you have this knowledge, my question to you is; what are you going to do about it? Perhaps you will be creating online articles in the future? Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Five of the Most Common Mistakes People Make in Their CVs

1. NOT TAILORING YOUR CV

The biggest mistake people make is not tailoring their CV to the job they are applying for. Many job seekers develop one version of their CV, which they submit for every position. By sending the same version of your CV for each type of role, you risk falling short of the mark when it comes time for the employer to sift through the pile of CVs on their desk. Only those CVs that directly match the role will be considered and if yours doesn't match, you won't be invited for an interview.

Although your qualifications, skills and experience remain the same, the way in which you present the information for different positions will vary. When applying for a senior role, for example, you'll need to highlight your supervisory and management experience. Applying for a lower level position, however, will require you to tone these down.

2. INCLUDING UNNECESSARY PERSONAL INFORMATION

Including personal information such as marital status, date of birth and religious affiliation is not required in most English-speaking parts of the world. Anti discrimination legislation means employers are not allowed to discriminate on the basis of marital status, age and religion so there is no need to include such information in your CV.

The only exceptions would be in the case of applying for a specialised role such as a pastoral counsellor, for example, where including details of your religious affiliation and training would be beneficial and may even be part of the selection criteria.

3. NOT USING KEYWORDS

The use of keywords in your CV is essential, particularly if you are applying for a role via a recruitment agency or larger company. Many recruitment agencies and large companies use specialised software that can scan CVs looking for keywords that relate to the role they are seeking to fill. If your CV fails to contain the necessary keywords, you won't be considered for the role at all.

Check the job advertisement for the keywords and be sure to include these in your CV. If the job advertisement doesn't contain enough information about the keywords, contact the recruiter and ask them exactly what they're looking for. Keywords should be included throughout your CV including in your CV's job title, objective, skills summary, overview, task descriptions and education/training sections.

4. SPELLING AND GRAMMAR ERRORS

If you are preparing your CV on your own, be sure to use spell check to correct errors and then have it checked by at least two other people. Relying solely upon spell check can be disastrous since many words contained in CVs are not recognised or can be misinterpreted by spell check.

If English is your second language, poor grammar is a particular issue you may need to be aware of. Having a native English speaker check the grammar in your CV is vital. An employer will immediately pick up on your less-than-perfect English-language skills even if your spoken English skills are superior.

5. INCLUDING HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

With the exception of students or teens looking for their first part time job, including a section in your CV about your hobbies and interests is not recommended. Employers don't need to know you enjoy crocheting, archery and travelling in your spare time.

If the position you are applying for calls for someone with knowledge and experience in one of your hobby and interest areas, highlight this in the summary or overview section of your CV rather than under a 'Hobbies and Interests' heading.

For students or teens with limited or no previous work history, it can be useful to include hobbies and interests as these can demonstrate desirable qualities to an employer. Involvement in a sporting team demonstrates team-work skills, an interest in animals can indicate compassion and an interest in cycling can show you are fit and healthy. It is not advisable to include hobbies and interests that could be detrimental such as listing 'going to parties' or 'hanging out with friends' since these add nothing to your application.

There are many resources available online to help guide you through the process of creating a professional resume. If you need help, consult a career counsellor or resume/CV writer. They will be able to develop a professional CV taking into account your qualifications, skills and experience together with the kinds of roles you will be applying for.

How To Write A Resume - Overcoming The Biggest Problem That Most People Face

Learning how to write a resume is very important for anyone that wants to be able to obtain a good job. Before you can write your resume, you first need to understand how to overcome the main problem that most people have with doing just that.

The main problem that many people face when it comes to writing their resume is that they are not prepared to do this. Not being prepared is always a mistake that needs to be overcome, or you will end up with a resume that is not good or professional.

Writing a resume is just like everything else in life. You have to be prepared to tackle it or it will end up a disaster. In order to overcome this problem, you have to plan ahead, give it some thought and prepare all you are able to.

There is no reason that you have to spend days doing this, but you still have to spend at least 15 minutes or more on it. There are some important things that you need to do that will help you prepare for writing your own resume easily.

The first thing to do is to make plans on the information that you will add to it. Start by putting down the job title that you will be applying for. Then put down why you want to be hired for this job. Your reason can be as simple as making money for your family.

The next step is to write down why you believe you are qualified for the job. After this has been done, it is a smart idea to study the requirements need for the job. Check out the advertisement for the job and check for any specific requirements that it asks for, like the skills or years of experience needed.

Then write them down so you will be able to find them so you can make sure that this information is put on to your resume. Before you start writing your resume, take a look at all of the information you have wrote down about it to make sure that you really have what is needed to be hired for that particular job.
